Description:
Exterior view showing a new Frisco Lines diesel-powered streamliner stopping at a small station circa 1946. In October 1945, the Frisco Lines placed orders with Electro-Motive and Pullman-Standard to dieselize and streamline their crack passenger trains, the Meteor and the Texas Special. The order included six 2000-h.p. E7A locomotives, including #2002, shown here. The newly equipped trains were successful for their first few years of operation, but ridership declined over the 1950s and the last Frisco passenger train ran in 1967. This photo appears in "More Classic Trains" by Arthur Dubin (Kalmbach 1974).
